In this episode, we define and talk about backlinks and why it is important in search engine optimization as a online website traffic generation strategy.
First of all, what is a backlink?
Here is a definition I grabbed from the first page of Google…
A backlink is an incoming hyperlink from one web page to another website.
The more backlinks you have pointing back to your webpage or site, the more popular it will be.
Do you know those blue clickable words that you see when browsing the internet? EXACTLY.
Those are called links simply because they link one page to the other.
When you click on them, it directs you to another webpage or website. That’s for you as a human web user.
Obviously, that link poses as an exposure for the webpage that you were directed to.
If you follow me closely and if you’ve read my book “Empire Lifestyle Secrets”, you’d know that one of my core business beliefs is that EXPOSURE IS EVERYTHING.
On the other side, there are web crawlers and robots that crawl the internet web.
These crawlers create the algorithm that measures the quantity and quality of these links to determine how it:
* Discovers
* Indexes and
* Ranks
…the webpages on the search engines when users do research with targeted keywords and keyword phrases.
Ranking your webpages high on the search engines creates better exposure that allows you to generate traffic and quality leads to your business.
There are 2 different parts to search engine optimization:
On-page optimization which is essentially creating quality content and
Off-page optimization which quantity and quality links point back to the subject webpage and content.
